對於每個文件，’ md5sum’ 預設輸出 MD5 校驗和、空格、指示二進製或文本輸入模式的標誌以及文件名。二進制模式用 ’ *’ 表示，文本模式用 ‘’ (space). Binary mode is the default on systems where it’s significant, otherwise text mode is the default. If *file* contains a backslash or newline, the line is started with a backslash, and each problematic character in the file name is escaped with a backslash, making the output unambiguous even in the presence of arbitrary file names.

The checksum files are simply the output of the corresponding utilities, so the above documents their format too.
